Apartheid is the word for racial discrimination of people in South Africa. The Dutch and the British colonised South Africa but as they were dominating through political control and control over land and wealth, the Africans came back with racial discriminations.
Apartheid meaning a system of segregation on races of people. In Dutch meaning "outcast" was used in South Africa while also in other African countries.
One person to have led a struggle against apartheid was Nelson Mandela. He was later imprisoned for 27 years and after that was named the country's first black president.
